MESA’s consulting services have historically focused around business development and organizational development. One central track combining both themes focuses on global growth strategies and organization development. MESA has worked with many members of the Fortune 1000 to shape and accelerate global growth, from the broadest approach to very specific exercises. For example, we have led special strategic planning efforts to co-create long term global strategies; designed annual strategic planning processes to ensure that strategies remain current, compelling and competitive; and taken on tactical projects, such as locating and staffing an engineering center in China. We have worked with multiple firms to develop effective matrix management systems and to foster effective global leadership teams and cultures.
A second key theme in MESA’s consulting practice is innovation. We especially seek engagements that test the current boundaries of a company’s business, organization and culture. We focus on generating knowledge and insight about opportunities for innovation, and we are particularly interested in business model innovation, with accompanying focus on organizational and leadership requirements. Bill Davidson’s work as seen in his books 2020 Vision and Breakthrough, in particular, focuses on creating extraordinary value through identifying and implementing innovative visionary strategies in a very structured and grounded fashion. Francois Dupuy’s work of late also focuses specifically on creating customer-centric solutions as a value creation strategy, emphasizing the organizational requirements for success with such approaches. His latest book Business for the 21st Century: towards simplicity and trust (MacMillan Business 2011) stresses the new trends in management that make it possible for leadership to get high motivation and involvement from employees.
MESA also welcomes projects and assignments with a research or learning focus. We particularly appreciate the importance of learning activities and efforts as inputs to sound strategic decision making, and we believe we can be of assistance in generating knowledge to support effective strategies for business and organizational development.
MESA’s consulting philosophy is quite distinct in that assignments are led and executed directly by its partners. We do not maintain a large group of junior consultants. We believe that consulting projects will ultimately succeed only if the client organization embraces and commits to the project by engaging its own resources. Our approach emphasizes forming and supporting an internal team, with necessary external resources, to internalize the outcomes of any project, and ensure successful implementation. |
